The Ultimate Deep Cleaning Checklist | It’s finally spring! The sun has returned, the grass is hinting at green, and the season of spring cleaning is upon us. I’ll be honest — I love deep cleaning my apartment. Cleaning is actually something I enjoy, as long as I’m not rushed when I’m doing it, so setting aside a chunk of time to get it all done is kind of the dream.
Having a fresh, clean space is a great feeling. Deep cleaning a few times a year keeps a space refreshing, cozy, and easier to maintain. This deep cleaning checklist is easy to use, and categorized by room so that it can be easily broken up and done at separate times if need be! KITCHEN
As you go through your spring clean, keep an active eye out for things you don’t need. If you’re storing appliances, toiletries, or clothes that you just don’t wear/use — set them aside and either donate or sell. Clutter makes cleaning, and life, much harder. I’m not full minimalist, but I can definitely tell you that getting rid of unnecessary junk is always a good idea.
- Take everything out of cupboards and wipe down
- Wipe down outside of cupboards
- Run dish sponges through dishwasher
- Deep clean dishwasher using baking soda + vinegar method
- Deep clean microwave (easiest way to do it)
- Deep clean coffee maker
- Clean inside of oven
- Wash oven trays
- Clean stovetop
- Wash garbage can: wipe off any stains, let soak overnight if necessary
- Thoroughly wash floor
- Clean light fixtures
- Wipe down mirrors/art/windows
- Wash walls/backsplash
- Wash baseboards
- Wash kitchen table, wipe down chairs
- Clean linens
BATHROOM
- Deep clean toilet
- Wipe down toilet outside
- Scrub down shower
- Clean sink
- Clean linens
- Wipe down shelves/surfaces
- Wash mirror/windows
- Dust

Deep Cleaning Hacks & Tips
- Declutter as you go
The #1 reason my house gets messy is because I have too much stuff. Decluttering while you clean is a fantastic strategy with no added time. As you’re wiping, washing, and organizing, remove anything you don’t use. Clothes, tools, utensils, etc–if it’s not needed or loved, let it go. This will make your next deep clean much easier, and save your life on the daily. Pace yourself
2. Pace yourself
I like to clean — but not everyone does. If you’re not into scrubbing and washing, no worries. You’re totally normal. But you may not want to do all of this in one day. Use this deep cleaning checklist (download PDF here) to pace yourself and separate deep cleaning tasks into a doable schedule.
Spring cleaning is a really great feeling. Walking into an organized space filled with things you love — without the burden of clutter or dirt — is so relaxing. Deep cleaning may not be your thing, but doing it a couple of times a year is well worth the time and effort.
